Changing lives through sport

Our goal is to reimagine combative sports in ways that enhance the lives of our members

GROWING OUR MEMBERSHIP

Kickboxing is surging forward in Canada. It's the begining of a new era and we couldn't be more excited. WAKO Canada is reinventing itself with more opportunities for elite level athletes, professional development programs and the promotion of our clubs, coaches and athletes.

CLUBS

THE FOUNDATION OF WAKO CANADA

Club Membership offers 2M liability coverage and a Risk Management program for registered members. WAKO Canada provides clubs with training and accreditation to support your professional martial arts and kickboxing club. Members received an annual Club Membership Certificate that you can proudly display at your club. Each Member club can enter athletes in competitions sanctioned by our PSOs. The Board of Directors is also composed of Club Owners who provide direction to the Association.

ATHLETES

WAKO CANADA PARTICIPATION

Athletes wishing to participate in WAKO Canada competitions in Tatami Sports or Ring Sports must also register with WAKO Canada through the member club. Ring Sport athletes must also complete an Annual medical with the form provided; while Tatami Sport athletes simply register and do not need an annual medical. Member clubs will be mailed a WAKO Athlete Passport (Ring Sports) and a Competition Card (Tatami Sports). These allow competitors to enter competitions approved by WAKO Canada

Coaches are must also complete a NCCP equivalency course and will then receive a Ministry of Sport accreditation certificate that can be displayed proudly.

WAKO Canada endorses the Long Term Athlete Development model (LTAD) of the Ministry of Sport. WAKO Canada has created programs and services that support each level of the LTAD. KICKSTART is one such program. This is a Kickboxing curriculum and activity kit for participants aged 5-10. KICKSTART has a series of games to teach skills in a creative and fun format.
KICKSTART manuals are provided to member clubs upon request.
